Art show and celebration!

Campers and their families and friends gathered at Lux last night to celebrate the end of Summer Art Camp with an impressive student art show. The Swells, a local San Diego band provided musical entertainment that included a guest piano performance by camper Echo Murphy! Guests were treated to countless cupcakes (donated by NCL) and everyone (including non-family members!) ooed and awwed over the fabulous artwork. All the photos from the art show are posted to the Lux Flickr page.

Summer Art Camp - Week 6: Printmaking

The last week of Summer Art Camp was dedicated to printmaking, a specialty of camp instructors Kahea Milroy and Johnny King.

Students learned to think backwards (in printmaking everything is backwards!) and to work hard (carving and cutting take time and muscles!) for a variety of projects including 3-color linoleum cuts, 3-color animal foam prints, ink-blot pillow prints, funny face self-portraits, and screen printed t-shirts.
